www.rcpapps.org has been registered, although the web content is still being developed. The purpose of RCPApps is to encourage adoption of the Eclipse Rich Client Platform framework as a means of writing applications and developing plugins for Eclipse.
RCPApps aims to provide:
- A number of RCP applications that embody both good style (coding, design) and usability. It's hoped that these applications will be used by end users who aren't interested in Eclipse development as well.
- Articles regarding development of Eclipse plugins, and Rich Client applications.
- Links and FAQs to Eclipse resources
- An opportunity to see how simple applications can be built using the Eclipse framework.
The applications that are planned include:
- RCPNews: a news reader that can manage RSS, Atom and other news feed types in the future
- RCPMail: an e-mail client that can connect to IMAP, POP and send mail by SMTP
Other applications may be developed in the future, such as RCPLDAPBrowser and RCPSNMPBrowser, time permitting.
